Economic opportunities by lifting sanctions Iran
Export to, the import from and transit through Iran of Flemish goods is eased. This news was announced by Strategic Goods Control on January 19th, a few days after the announcement of the end of the international economic sanctions against Iran. Not all restrictions are lifted; for the export of dual-use goods, companies still need a license and military goods are still under embargo.
Minister-president Bourgeois hopes that lifting the sanctions will give Flemish companies better access to the Iranian market. "Iran is a country with huge potential in the Middle East. For our ports and companies - including the maritime sector - the opening of the Iranian market may offer new opportunities," said Bourgeois.
Flanders Investment and Trade is reopening its representation in Tehran. In an interview with the News, the Economic Representative in Tehran, Kris Put, expressed his hope of the new opportunities for Flemish companies in Iran.
