Flemish game industry impresses at international trade fair in Cologne
On 21 August, the 10th edition of Gamescom, Europe’s leading trade fair for digital gaming culture, kicked off in Cologne. No fewer than 11 Flemish game companies are present at the international trade fair. Together with a Flemish delegation and the three regional game federations, Minister of Media Sven Gatz visited Gamescom in order to support the companies.
Minister of Media Gatz: “Our Flemish video game industry is experiencing unprecedented success. Combining creativity and technology, these companies all have high growth potential. I am therefore delighted to be able to offer them a helping hand."
The game industry has been on the rise for some time now and is experiencing incredible economic growth. The sector is the second large cultural industry in the world and also receives public support in Flanders, through the Flemish Audiovisual Fund.
Flanders DC (Flanders District of Creativity), the Flemish and Walloon game federations (FLEGA and WALGA) and the gaming sector's representative in Brussels, screen.brussels, together support the Belgian participation of the Gamescom 2018.
