Flemish higher education system presented to Iranian delegation
On 9 September, the Department of Education and Training received an Iranian delegation led by Prof. Hossein Salar Amoli, Acting Minister for International Affairs and head of the Center for International Scientific Cooperation (CISC) and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT).
Secretary-general Micheline Scheys welcomed the delegation and expressed Flanders’ appreciation for the agreement Iran signed with the US, Russia, China, the UK, France and Germany last year. Therefore the Government of Flanders gladly accepted Iran’s invitation to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Purpose of this visit was to present the Flemish higher education system and to explore possibilities to activate cooperation in this domain.
The Government of Flanders is convinced that gradually breaking down international isolation of Iran combined with economic growth due to lifting international sanctions, will strengthen moderate forces in Iranian society. Minister-president Geert Bourgeois is therefore looking forward to leading Flanders’ economic mission to Iran from October 29 to November 1, 2016.
