This project is designed within the framework of UNESCO’s global capacity-building strategy to assist countries with effectively implementing the provisions of the 2003 Convention on safeguarding intangible cultural heritage (ICH).
The current project is planned as the last one in the chain of the previous phases of ICH safeguarding and capacity building in Southern Africa (Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe), predominantly financed by the Government of Flanders since 2009.
