Iranian Deputy Minister hopes for successful Flemish trade mission

On 4 October Minister-president Bourgeois met with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi. Deputy Minister Sarmadi leads the Iranian delegation which is currently in our country for the two-day Afghanistan Conference organized by the European Commission. Still, he made time for a meeting with Minister-president Bourgeois to discuss the trade mission to Iran from 29 October to 1 November led by the Minister-president.  Deputy Minister Sarmadi is looking forward to this trade mission and expressed his hope that it will lead to concrete collaborations.

Currently, a Flemish - Iranian Memorandum of Understanding is being negotiated. The following sectors are involved: Environment, Nature and Energy; Mobility and Public Works; Trade and Investment; E-government and ICT. Education will probably also be included. Minister-president Bourgeois hopes to conclude negotiations before departure so that the signing can take place in Iran.
