Minister Homans to Oslo conference on (de)radicalization
On June 5, Minister Liesbeth Homans attended the European Conference on Countering Violent Extremism in Oslo, at the invitation of the Norwegian government. The conference in Oslo is a continuation of the summit at the White House on the same issue last February. And serves as preparation for the summit Countering Violent Extremism in September in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Minister Homans took part in the session ‘Strengthening local preventive work to counter violent extremism’. This session highlighted the role towns and cities can play in rapidly detecting and preventing radicalization processes. Which is also an important part of the ‘Action Plan for the Prevention of Radicalization’ of the Government of Flanders, approved last April.
