Minister-president receives 15 European in the framework of the Vanguard Initiative

On Thursday 30 January political representatives of 15 European regions participating in the ‘Vanguard Initiative for New Growth through Smart Specialisation’ met in Brussels. Minister-president Peeters organized this meeting in order to underline that Flanders wants to play a prominent role in Europe's industrial policies, together with other industrial regions. During the meeting the 15 regions discussed their strategies, and how they want to contribute to the European industry of the future.

The minister-president launched the  “Vanguard Initiative” in November 2013. The Vanguard group wants to influence the European Council which will discuss Europe's industrial competitiveness in March 2014. Apart from Flanders, the regions of Asturias, Baden-Württemberg, the Basque Country, Lombardy, Malopolska, North Rhine-Westphalia, Norte (Portugal), Oberösterreich, Rhône-Alpes, Skåne, Scotland, Tampere, Wallonia and South-Netherlands have joint the initiative .
