From 26 to 28 August, the 4th edition of the seminar "Antigas salas de cinema de Maputo" took place in Maputo, Mozambique. The seminar is part of Film Museum project, which has been trying for several years to map and archive the history of Mozambique's film and cinema. The seminar was supported by the Government of Flanders.
General Representative Geraldine Reymenants attended the conference and gave a short opening speech: "By sustainably conserving and facilitating qualitative access to Mozambique's audiovisual heritage, we are able to discuss and innovate the evolution of cinematographic techniques."
An exhibition and seminar are organized every year to reach out to a wider audience, especially students. The focus of this year’s edition was on the theme of “old cinemas of Maputo”. The exhibition highlights the patrimonial importance of these architectural and social spaces, which are in danger of disappearing.
The exhibition runs until the end of August at Centro Cultural Franco-Moçambicano (CCFM) in Maputo.
