On 13 November the Green Climate Fund approved a 10 million dollar grant for the World Food Program project which focuses on integrated climate risk management for vulnerable families in Mozambique. Thanks to the co-financing from Flanders, the project was eligible for Green Climate Fund support.
Mozambique is one of the most vulnerable countries in the world for climate change. With Flemish support, the World Food Program (WFP) is currently implementing a project that focuses on integrated climate risk management for vulnerable families. The project must prevent people from having to rely on food aid in case of emergencies.
Thanks to the strategically used resources from Flanders, the possibility for upscaling the project was built in and therefore also the change for additional funding from the Green Climate Fund. This is the first Green Climate Fund project in Mozambique.
