On September 8, Minister-President Jambon had a meeting with Colombian Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to the European agenda, Colombia also attaches great importance to its relations with Flanders.
The port of Antwerp, the Department of Mobility and Public Works/Flanders International Technical Agency (FITA) and the Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ) already have a good working relationship with Colombia. Colombia wishes to extend this to a sustainable cooperation in the field of trade, digitization and commercialization of cocoa and everything to do with the ocean.
Colombia is also grateful to Europe and Flanders for their support during the peace process. The country still faces many challenges, but looks ahead and aims to both tackle poverty and improve infrastructure development while respecting the United Nations' development goals. Soon, Sport Vlaanderen will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Cycling with its Colombian counterpart. This will take place in the margins of the World Cycling Championships in Leuven.
The Vice President invited Minister-President Jambon to visit Colombia to bring the Flemish-Colombian cooperation up to cruising speed.
