Opening Flanders Investment & Trade Office in Texas
On 8 December, Minister-president Geert Bourgeois, along with CEO Claire Tillekaerts, opened the fifth office of Flanders Investment & Trade in the United States. After New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta, Flanders Investment & Trade is now also present in the largest city in Texas, Houston. The strong developed sectors in Texas are oil, petrochemicals and pharmaceutics; sectors in which Flanders is also very strong.
Minister-president Bourgeois visited the USA from 6 to 11 December. He presented the new strategy paper Flanders – USA. The Government of Flanders defined their main goals in their relationship with the USA. 7 goals to strengthen and expand the existing economic, culturaland academic ties were formulated. Team Flanders-USA is the principal means to achieve this goals. Team Flanders-USA – or the network of the Government of Flanders in the USA- consists of the General Representation in New York, five offices and two technology attachés representing Flanders Investment & Trade and the Visit Flanders office in New York.
