Panamanian Minister of Trade wishes more economic cooperation

Minister-president Geert Bourgeois received the Panamanian Minister of Trade and Industry, Meliton Arrocha on February 23rd.

Minister Arrocha outlined the strong economic position of Panama with a firm growth of 7% of its GNP. Panama is the largest passenger hub of Central America and has the best connectivity to all Latin American countries. At the present, several Flemish companies are active in Panama, but they focus mainly on the Panama Canal and its modernization. Minister Arrocha hopes to attract more companies of and business with Flanders.

Minister-president Bourgeois suggested to organize a Panama Day; a collaboration between Panama, the Panamanian Embassy in Belgium and Flanders Investment and Trade. Minister Arrocha and Ambassador Chirù reacted enthusiastically to this proposal and promised to give their full support to this initiative.
