Project: Offering technical support to Marine World Heritage sites with special attention for capacity building and collaboration between African sites. Beneficiary: Unesco Amount: 149.330 USD Duration: 2019 – 2020 Dit project zorgt voor een verdere ondersteuning van Unesco’ programma voor de bescherming van marien Werelderfgoed, dat wordt geleid door de Vlaamse Fanny Douvere. Het specifieke doel van dit project is om de samenwerking tussen Afrikaanse mariene sites te bevorderen om zo ook hun capaciteiten te versterken, en om technische ondersteuning te bieden aan mariene sites.

Project: Organisation of a training in Mozambique for the capacity building in Africa on underwater cultural heritage Beneficiary: Unesco Amount: 92.650 USD Duration: 2019 – 2020 This project aims to improve the protection and management of maritime and underwater cultural heritage in the African countries, within the framework of the principles and standards of the UNESCO 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage. A regional training course is planned on legal protection and practical management of underwater cultural heritage.

Project: preliminary phase of International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) Beneficiary: Architecture Workroom Brussels (AWB) Budget: 200.000 euros Period: 1/08/2018 - 31/12/2018 Flemish architect Joachim Declerck (AWB), Flemish property developer Leo van Broeck and Dutch Chief Government Architect Floris Alkemade, have been appointed as curator for the 2018 and 2020 editions of the International Architecture Biennale in Rotterdam (IABR). Both editions are entirely dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the Paris Agreement on climate.

Project: Exhibition: works of Léon Spilliaert Budget: 100.000 euros Period: 2020 In 2020, the Royal Academy of Arts will present a solo exhibition of the internationally acclaimed Flemish painter and graphic artist Léon Spilliaert. The grant to the Royal Academy of Arts aims to increase the awareness and visibility of the Flemish arts and culture on an international level. The exhibition about Spilliaert is the result of close cooperation after the Ensor exhibition at the Royal Academy in 2016.

Project: Tour in South Africa by Youth Choir Waelrant and Show Choir Rise Up and participation in World Choir Games in South Africa Beneficiary: Koor & Stem Budget: 12.500 euros Duration: 2018 - 2019 Koor & Stem supports choirs and singers across Flanders. Youth Choir Waelrant and Show Choir Rise Up will tour through South Africa in 2018, performing in different cities. Both Youth Choir Waelrant and Show Choir Rise Up will promote Flanders as host for the 11th World Choir Games in 2020.

Project: the performance of dance company Shell Shock in Paris Beneficiary: Eastman Budget: 25.000 euros Period: 2018 - 2019 On the 10th and 11th of November 2018, Eastman Dance Company (choreographer Sidi Larbi Cheraoui) will perform in Paris as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the WOI Armistice. The performances of Shell Shock in Paris offer a good opportunity for Flanders to be present at the closing event of the French President Macron in the context of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Great War.

Grant to VOS Vlaamse Vredesvereniging for the concert The 'Great War in Music, Word and Image', 2018
Project: The 'Great War in Music, Word and Image' Beneficiary: VOS Vlaamse Vredesvereniging Budget: 6.999 euros Period: 2018 - 2019 Together with its partners, VOS organises several concerts to commemorate the Great War. With two performances in the United States, VOS creates a unique opportunity to highlight the Flemish spirit of peace and the bond between the US and Flanders. The 'Great War in Music, Word and Image' will be performed in 2018 in symbolic places in Flanders (Ypres on 12 July, Winch on 30 September and Sint-Niklaar on 13 October).

Project: Exhibition 'Stigma and psychiatry' in Japan Beneficiary: Museum Dr Guislain Amount: 90.000 euro Duration: 2019 - 2020 This Flemish-Dutch project offers the possibility to indirectly address a social problem (stigmatisation of mentally ill people) with a cultural project. This is a social problem of which the Japanese health care system is very aware, but for which one is looking towards Western Europe to make this theme a subject of discussion. Europe and Flanders have already coma a long way in making mental illness a subject of discussion.
