project: a Flemish programme for the RomaEurope Festival for contemporary arts in Rome in 2019 Beneficiary: Fondazione RomaEurope (Rome) Budget: 80.000 euro Duration: 2019 (the festival takes place from September till november 2019) The RomaEurope Festival is a prestigious and multidisciplinary arts festival that takes place in Rome. The program consists of contemporary dance, theater, visual arts and music.

Project: Operating grant Beneficiary: EGTC* of West-Flanders/Flandre-Dunkirk- Côte d’Opale  Budget: 30.000 euro Duration: 2018 The Flandre-Dunkirk- Côte d’Opale region and West-Flanders share the same geographically unique features and have also been culturally linked with each throughout the course of history. The EGTC* of West-Flanders/Flandre-Dunkirk- Côte d’Opale is strengthening the ties between the regions on both sides of the French-Belgian border. Project: Operating grant 2018 Beneficiary: Eurometropolis Lille-Kortrijk-Tournai Budget: 90.387,28 euro Duration: 2018 The Eurometropolis Lille - Kortrijk – Tournai is a European Territorial Cooperation Group and brings together all French and Belgian government levels via 14 institutions, working together to erase the "border effect" and make day-to-day life easier for its 2.1 million inhabitants. EUROMETROPOLIS is a hub for all cross-border information, activities and services, supporting their exploitation and development and sometimes even adapting them.

Project: In support of the Flemish coordinator Northern France Beneficiary: Province of West-Flanders Budget: 75.000 euro Duration: 2017 - 2022 The Government of Flanders appointed Carl Decaluwé as Flemish coordinator of cross-border cooperation between Flanders and Northern France. The Flemish coordinator is not reimbursed for this project.

Project: Exhibition 'The Charterhouse of Bruges: Jan van Eyck, Petrus Christus and Jan Vos' in the Frick Collection in New York Beneficiary: The Frick Collection Budget: 25.000 euro Duration: 2018 - 2019 From 18 September 2018 to 13 January 2019, the exhibition 'The Charter House of Bruges: Jan van Eyck, Petrus Christus and Jan Vos' will be held in the Frick Collection in New York. With this exhibition two exceptional paintings will be reunited for the first time in 20 years, namely 'The Holy Virgin the Carthusian' by Jan van Eyck and 'the Exeter - Madonna' by Petrus Christus.

Project: operations of the Al Kamandjâti music school, Ramallah  Beneficiary: Al Kamandjâti music school Budget: 30.000 euro Duration: 2018 Al Kamandjâti (AK) has established music schools in numerous locations in Palestine and Lebanon that service approximately 500 children, providing music instruction in strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, guitar, oriental and occidental percussion, oud, nay, voice, music appreciation, ensemble playing and music theory. Instruments are provided for the children at no cost, allowing those without means to pursue their musical dreams. 

Project: Continuation of the cooperation with  A.M. Qattan Foundation after the end of the festival Under Construction: Flemish Palestinian Connection Beneficiary: Connexion vzw Budget: 35.000 euro Period: 2018 Connexion and A.M. Qattan Foundation had the ambition to bridge the distance between Flanders and Palestine by bringing together artists and stimulating exchange and cooperation through the Flanders Under Construction Festival. An initial evaluation of the Under Construction Festival shows that the project successfully applies to collaboration and co-production.

Project: Annual contribution to the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2018 Beneficiary: The World Economic Forum Budget: 60.000 Swiss franc Duration: 2018 - 2019 Flanders has been a member of the WEF since 1993 and receives an annual invitation for the annual and regional meeting. The Government of Flanders defines the status of "Foundation Member" of the WEF.  The Minister-president of the Government of Flanders has repeatedly participated in the annual meeting in Davos. During this meeting, recent economic, political, social and scientific trends are discussed.

Project: 16 edition of the 'Nationale Zeeuwse Oesterpartij'  Beneficiary: Nationale Zeeuwse Oesterpartij Budget: 6.500 euro Period: 2018 On 24 September 2018, the 16 edition of the 'Nationale Zeeuwse Oesterpartij' took place in Middelburg, the Netherlands. More than 700 guests will participate at the event, including directors, politicians, business people,... The aim of the event is to establish the bridge between politics and industry. The event is an opportunity for representatives of the Dutch and Flemish governments and the Dutch/Belgian business community.

project: Showcase event in VS  of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen Beneficiary: Kunsthuis vzw Budget: 71.130 euro Period: one time event in 2019 (the exacte date is to be confirmed) In 2014, Opera Flanders and Ballet Flanders merged into Opera Ballet Flanders.

Project:  Detachment of an expert to the UNESCO Liaison Office to the European Union Beneficiary: Unesco Amount: 500.000 USD Duration: 2012 - 2017 Since 2012, Flanders has been financing the secondment of an expert to the UNESCO Liaison Office in Brussels. The aim of the UNESCO Liaison Office and Representation to the European Union is to establish closer cooperation between UNESCO and the European Union and to increase the visibility of the organisation in the European landscape.

Project:  Contributions to the Special Account for support to countries in post-conflict and post-disaster situations: crisis response in Nepal Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 25.000 USD Duration: 2015 With this contribution Flanders supports UNESCO's emergency actions in the aftermath of the major earthquakes on 25 April and 12 May 2015 in Nepal. These earthquakes caused great damage in the Kathmandu Valley, a World Heritage site known for its unique temples, stupas and historic houses.

Project: Project: World War - peace education project Beneficiary: Unesco  Amount: 50.000 USD Duration: 2014 - 2018 This project includes an educational peace-building initiative on the occasion and in memory of the commemoration of the century of the First World War in 2014. It is based on underwater cultural heritage of the time, but also links are made with the situation today. The emphasis is on reconciliation.

Project: International Scientific Conference: Culture in Armed Conflict Beneficiary: Unesco Amount: 170.000 USD Duration: 2016 The international conference 'Culture in Armed Conflict' focuses primarily on the role culture plays in armed conflicts and how it affects human rights and security.

Project: Bringing together the international community to protect Syria's cultural heritage Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 170.000 USD Duration: 2014 - 2016 This project includes a meeting of international experts for the conservation of cultural heritage in Syria and technical emergency assistance. The project highlights the activities set up by UNESCO around this and helps to take emergency measures. It also creates awareness of the destruction of heritage.

Project: Centenary of WWI and its Underwater Cultural Heritage: Exhibit on African and Asian involvement Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 49.990 USD Duration: 2014 - 2018 Throughout 2014-2018 the centenary of the First World War is commemorated. The naval battles and remaining underwater cultural heritage linked to those battles merit attention as well. This projects focuses on the African and Asian involvement in naval battles with an exhibition.

Project: Emergency Safeguarding of the Site of Palmyra: Implementation of the World Heritage Committee Decisions Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 100.000 USD Duration: 2016 – 2018 Due to the armed conflict in Syria, many World Heritage sites were damaged, including the well-known site of Palmyra. Since the site was accessible again in 2016, Unesco dispatched a rapid assessment mission to assess the damages and identify emergency measures.

Project: Protection of heritage of religious interest as a tool for reconciliation (Iraq) Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 250.000 USD Duration: 2018 – 2019 In the aftermath of the ISIS/Daesh occupation of Northern parts of Iraq, there is a need for mapping the damage they have done to religious heritage in a systematic manner. Unesco aims in this project to devise a methodology for this and to use it for a comprehensive assessment of the damage and needs. Following that assessment the results will be published and distributed through scientific community and the public at large.

Project: Establish a digital database and website for the Preah Vihear World Heritage Site Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 12.430 USD Duration: 2018 – 2019 With reference to the experience and necessity for the creation of a database for the International Coordination Committee for the Safeguarding and the Development of the Archaeological Site of Angkor (ICC-Angkor), it is very important to have a similar system for the World Heritage Site of Preah Vihear.

Project: Cuba, Jardines de la Reina National Park: Technical support to strengthen management and world heritage nomination preparation Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 12.430 USD Duration: 2018 – 2019 The national park ‘Jardines de la Reina’ in Cuba has already been inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List in 2003. This marine site is one of the most pristine marine areas in the world and home to numerous endangered species.
