Project: Curriculum ‘The Volunteers: Americans join World War One, 1914-1919’ Beneficiary: AFS Intercultural Programs, Inc  Amount: 30.000 USD Duration: 2014 - 2016 The Volunteers: Americans Join World War I, 1914-1919 Curriculum was launched on March 2 at an event hosted by the Flanders House in New York City and online at thevolunteers.afs.org. The event featured keynote speaker Sophie De Schaepdrijver, a distinguished Belgian historian, Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University, and recipient of the Order of the Crown (Belgium).

Project: Action plan 2018 Beneficiary: Flemings in the World (VIW) Budget: 264.000 euro Duration: 2018 The foundation Flemings in the World (VIW) is an interest group set up for fellow countrymen who want to live or already live, work or stay abroad. VIW keeps in contact with thousands of expatriated Flemings through its worldwide and active network. The foundation offers its users a personal service and functions as their mouthpiece. Its existence is based on the philosophy which states that a community has a responsibility towards the members who have exceeded national borders.

Project: Human Rights Competition called Összpont andÖsszpont summer youth camp Beneficiary: Amnesty International Hungary Amount: 9.500 euro Duration: 2018 The purpose of the competition and summer youth camp Összpont is to get Hungarian young people acquainted with the topic of human rights.

Project: Bridging the Gap between Qualification and Quality Employment Beneficiary: Autonómia Foundation Amount: 14 months Duration: 25.000 euro The Hungarian foundation Autonómia aims to provide more opportunities for Roma youth on the labour market. The foundation will take the necessary actions to combat discrimination on the labour market.  As part of the project, the foundation will collaborate with the city of Ghent.

Beneficiary: Red Cross-Flanders Amount: 2.500.000 euro Period: 2018 - 2020 Mozambique and Malawi are one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change due to extreme droughts, flooding and storms,... Climate change has a strong impact on the quality of peoples’ lives and the socio-economic conditions of the population are under pressure. International Red Cross-Flanders will focus on strengthening local Red Cross and Red Crescent sections in Malawi and Mozambique. Red Cross wil cooperate directly with local institutions.

Project: Co-financing the UGent Chair “South Africa: Languages, Literatures, Culture and Society” Beneficiary: Ghent University Budget: 21.000 euro Duration: 2018 This Chair is the first Chair ever to be established at the UGent Faculty of Arts and Philosophy. The first chair holder, prof. Hein Willemse from the University of Pretoria, gave his inaugural speech in 2017, in the presence of the subsidiaries who made this Chair possible – including a representative of the Flemish Government, the vice-rector of Ghent University and representatives of the South Africa Foundation in Amsterdam.

Project: Arts Flanders Beneficiary: Farm Radio Trust Duration: 2017 Budget: 24.000 euro Arts Flanders is a referral portal for both non-Belgians and Belgians abroad to find their way around government bodies and the various information platforms in the arts, heritage, amateur arts, social-cultural work for adults and young people, local cultural policy and socio-artistic initiatives. Arts Flanders is a visible brand, which increases the overseas visibility of Flemish arts and heritage as a whole.
