Project: international commemoration of the Third Battle of Ypres Beneficiary: Society Passchendaele Society vzw Amount: 140.000 euro Duration: July 2017 - November 2017 The project is based on the international commemoration of some dramatic historical moments of the Third Battle of Ypres on the particular day (exactly 100 years after the fact), knowingly places (Tyne Cot Cemetery, Crest Farm, Gravenstafel, Belle vue , Polygon Wood, Frezenberg ...) and (representatives of) countries, Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France and Germany.

Grant to Royal Academy of Arts for exhibition Ensor (2016)
Project: Grant fort the organisation of the Exhibition Ensor Beneficiary: Royal Academy of Arts London Amount: 135.000 euro Duration: 2016 On October 25, 2016, he first exhibition dedicated to James Ensor in London, "James Ensor: Exquisite Turbulence", opened in the Royal Academy of Arts. The Flemish painter Luc Tuymans curated the exhibition. Most of the exhibited works came from the collections of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp, Mu.ZEE Oostende and the Museum of Fine Arts of Ghent.

Project: the development of better health care on the basis of evidence-based medicine (EBM) Beneficiary: Instituto Nacional de Saúde Mozambique (INS), the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITG) Duration: 2014-2017 Budget: 1.201.91 euro This budget is for Phase II. For Phase I, which ran from 2013 to February 2015, a budget of EUR 926,805 had already been appropriated, of which EUR 689,755 was intended for INS and EUR 237,050 for ITG. Through this aid the Government of Flanders wants to further the development of better health care on the basis of evidence-based medicine (EBM).

Aquaculture is still a very young technique in Mozambique, and the production process still needs a lot of improving.

Project: support to entrepreneurs in the South by making experts available Beneficiary: Ex-Change Duration: 2011-2016 Budget: 3.000.000 Ex-Change gives support to entrepreneurs in the South by making experts available to them. During short expertise assignments they provide assistance to SMEs in the South. Within the framework of the cooperation with the partner countries Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa, the reinforcement of local enterprises, and especially SMEs, is focused on as well. Many small enterprises in the South invest in their own region and create jobs.

Project: improve access to high quality services regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights for female sex workers and their clients Beneficiary: “International Centre for Reproductive Health” (ICRH) Duration: 2010-2013 Budget: 553.046 euro In the Moatize District is a clinic where personnel provides information and extension services regarding sexual health in the evenings. They offer these services to two specific target groups who are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and STDs, namely female sex workers and truck drivers.

"Human Resources for Health" (WHO) Mozambique (2005)
Project: increasing the number of available health personnel in Mozambique Beneficiary: WHO Duration: 2005-2011 Budget: 587.600 euro The Human Resources for Health programme (HRH) of the World Health Organisation (WHO) aims to reinforce the Mozambican Ministry of Health. By doing so, the WHO gears towards increasing the number of available health personnel, in order to offer better health services to the community. With its 0.03 doctors and 0.21 nurses per 1000 people, Mozambique has one of the lowest densities of health workers in Africa.

Project: strengthening the Mozambican technical education by supporting the building of instruction rooms Beneficiary: Society of the Salesians of Don Bosco Duration: 2009-2011 Budget: 1.800.000 euro At the end of the Mozambican civil war, the Salesian society, among others, devoted itself to help develop the country’s technical education. In 1994, a Salesian network for professional education was created (“Rede Salesiana de Formaçao Profissional em Moçambique”).

Support to the ASWAp-SP through the Multi Donor Trust Fund (Malawi 2012)
Project: strengthening the impact of the investments on food security and sustainable growth in the agricultural sector Duration: 2012 Budget: 5.300.000 euro beneficiary: Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) In mutual agreement with the donor community, Malawi is taking steps towards a form of sectorial budget support within the agricultural sector. This so called ASWAp is not operational yet, but in anticipation, the ASWAp-Support Programme has already been started up. The financing of this ASWAp-SP goes through a Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) which is managed by the World Bank.

Project: promoting the sexual and reproductive rights of women and girls, and the combat on violence against women Beneficiary: www.forumulher.org.mz Duration: 2013-2016 Budget: 340.000 euro At the end of September 2013, the Government of Flanders decided to contribute to this initiative. The aim of the project is to improve the human rights and gender situation in Mozambique. The project was part of a strategic plan of the umbrella organisation “Forum Mulher”.

Project: the construction of additional accommodation for health care personnel in Tete province Beneficiary: BTC (Belgian Technical Cooperation) Duration: 2013-2014 Budget: 1.791.895 euro In view of improving personnel policies in the health care sector, the Government of Flanders has decided to make a contribution to the construction of additional accommodation for health care personnel in Tete province. In February 2013 the authorities of the Mozambican Tete province were requesting support for their personnel policy.

Renewal cooperation agreement UNAIDS, 2015-2018
Duration: 2015-2018 Budget: 3.000.000 euro In 2000, the Government of Flanders approved its first project for UNAIDS. The Government acknowledged the importance of the global fight against HIV and AIDS. With this renewed cooperation agreement, the Flemish Government wants to promote access to sexual and reproductive health and rights at the global level and especially in the partner countries.

United Nations World Food Programme : food aid for Syrian refugees (2014)
Project: food aid for Syrian refugees Beneficiary: World Food Programme Duration: 2014 Budget: 110.000 euro 3 million Syrian refugees are registered in neighboring Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey. The World Food programme helps these refugess through a system of food credits (electronic coupons) so they can buy local food.
