Project: emergency aid for food crisis in Malawi Beneficiary: World Food Programme Amount: 208.149 euro Duration: 2015 - 2016 In Malawi an estimated 2.8 million people are threated by a food shortage will be through the combination of floods and severe drought caused by a severe El Niño, a climate phenomenon that is caused by an abnormal warming of the seawater in the eastern tropical Pacific. In Mozambique the provinces of Zambézia and Nampula are affected the worst. It is feared that at least 200,000 people will soon feel the effects of the food shortage. In Malawi especially the southern districts of Nsanje, Chikwawa, Phalombe and Zomba are affected.
