Grant for the Groutville Community Care Homes in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa, 2007
Partner: The province KwaZulu-Natal’s department for housing Duration: 2007-2011 Budget: 297.188 euro The project’s goal is to decrease the impact of HIV/AIDS on orphans and on children infected with HIV/AIDS. The goal of the programme was to provide shelter and care for 120 orphans and children with high risk of an HIV/AIDS infection. Additionally, capacity building of the local community and service providers was also a goal.

Grant to help improve food security in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa, 2007
Partner: KwaZulu-Natal provincial Department of Agriculture Duration: 2007-2012 Budget: 7.500.000 With this programme, the Government of Flanders wants to help improve the food security situation in the rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal. Food security is one of the top priorities of the South African government. However, at the same time it is one of the problems KwaZulu-Natal province is faced with as a result of the unequal access to food among households. One in three families do not have any access to food.

Grant for the support of the social economy in public procurement in KwaZulu-Natal, 2011
Project: Public procurement and the social economy Partner: International Labour Organisation Duration: 2012-2013 Budget: 630.000 euro This programme wants to examine and test possibilities for using public procurement to stimulate the social economy in South Africa. Unemployment is a huge problem in South Africa. The unemployment rate among young people aged between 16 and 30 exceeds 40%.

Financial contributions to the African Climate Change Fund
Duration: 2017-2018 Budget: 2.000.000 euro According to a study by Climate Policy Initiative in 2013-2014, only 3% of the global climate financing goes to Sub-Sahara Africa. This contrasts with the fact that Sub-Saharan Africa is the region with the lowest contribution to climate change and at the same time has the highest vulnerability to climate change impact. It is known that these countries find it more difficult to raise climate finance.
