Project: Promoting inclusion of people with disabilities in Ukraine Beneficiary: vzw Oradea Amount: 16.000 euros Duration: 2018 The project consist of three parts:  Launching of an international thematic network on inclusion. The network consists of universities, NGOs and field organisations. (Flanders, Romania) Spreadig the Flemish documentary 'See me do' about people with intellectual disabilities, in Ukrainian schools, universities and welfare facilities.

Project: “Realizing younger adolescents’ sexual and reproductive rights”  Beneficiary: The Intenational Centre for Reproductive Health Mozambique  (ICRH-Mozambique) Amount: 1.119.810 euros Duration: 2018 - 2021 The project is based on existing partnerships and experiences between Flanders and ICHR-Mozambique. The aim of the initiative is to focus on young adolescents and to increase the sexual education of this group. The direct target group consists of 5000 girls and 5000 boys between 10 and 19 years.

Project: First Aid Initiative - FAI II for southern Africa: consolidation, activation and capitalisation Beneficiary: Red Cross Flanders Amount: 1.000.000 euro Duration: 2018  With this initiative, Red Cross Flanders wants to contribute to solving the regional challenges in developing countries in the field of first aid. In 2013, Red Cross Flanders and the Government of Flanders set up a large-scale study in ten countries in Southern Africa. The study revealed a number of shortcomings.

Project: Improving the representation of African sites on the World Heritage List: upstream support for natural heritage Beneficiary: UNESCO Duration: 2019-2020 Budget: 250.000 USD Africa remains poorly represented on the World Heritage List. It is a longstanding aim for UNESCO to improve this situation. In order to achieve a more balanced representation on the World Heritage List, technical assistance should be provided to African countries in their efforts to nominate sites as World Heritage. This projects wants to contribute to that aim, specifically for key natural sites.

Project: Agriculture Sector Wide Approach (ASWAp) in Malawi Beneficiary: Multi Donor Trust Fund Duration: 2017-2018 Amount: 5.000.000 euro Together with several donors, the agricultural sector in Malawi  will be supported through the Agriculture Sector Wide Approach (ASWAp). The Support Project (ASWAp-SP) provides technical and financial support to the Ministry of Agriculture for the implementation of this ASWAp. Funding is provided through the Multi-Donor Trust Fund and is supervised by the World Bank.

Project: Strengthening subregional cooperation and national capacities in seven southern African countries to implement the 2003 Convention for the preservation of intangible cultural heritage (PART I)  Beneficiary: Unesco Amount: 250 000 USD Duration: 2014 This project aims to establish a subregional cooperation platform to help seven southern African countries in their efforts to protect the heritage living within their borders. This platform consolidates the results of previous projects funded by Flanders.

Project: Strengthening subregional cooperation and national capacities in seven southern African countries to implement the 2003 Convention for the preservation of intangible cultural heritage (PART II)  Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 250.000 USD Duration: 2016-2017 This follow-up project pays special attention to ensure adequate institutional environment, the ability to develop legislative and policy frameworks or improve and the availability of national expertise. Project: Extension of the protection of marine sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List Beneficiary: UNESO Amount: 250.000 USD Duration: 2016 - 2017 The overall aim of this follow-up project is to further strengthen the impact of the World Heritage Marine Programme on the conservation of Unesco World Heritage Sites with an expected catalyst effect on other marine protected areas worldwide. The project objectives are aimed at optimising local decision-making through a strong application of the mechanisms of the World Heritage Convention.

Project: 'Increasing resilience and reducing vulnerabilities of local communities to the effects of climate change: promoting Ecosystem Based Adaption (EbA)' in South Africa Beneficiary: UN Environment - South Africa Country Office  Budget: 1.000.000 euro  Duration: 2018-2020 With the project, UN Environment (UN environmental agency) wants to support the government of South Africa to implement the overarching implementation plan for Ecosystem Based Adapation (EbA). Project: World Marine Heritage Sites and the application of 'ecosystem-based Marine Spatial Planning' (MRP) Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 351.630 USD Duration: 2013 - 2015 This project focuses on the conservation of an often underexposed form of World Heritage, namely the Marine World Heritage Sites, through the application of 'ecosystem-based Marine Spatial Planning' (MRP). MRP is a conceptual method developed by the IOC (Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission) on the basis of research by UGent.

Project: Engaging local communities in the conservation and management of the World Heritage sites in Africa Beneficiary: UNESCO Amount: 149.814 USD Duration: 2017 – 2019 Flanders has funded already several projects to the benefit of natural World Heritage sites in Africa; this project builds on those achievements and aims to implement the ‘Community Management of Protected Areas Conservation’ (COMPACT) in one World Heritage site in Southern Africa.

Project: Exhibition Rubens. Painter of sketches Beneficiary: Prado Museum Madrid Budget: 90.000 euro Duration: April - Agust 2018 The exhibition “Rubens. Painter of sketches” will take place from 9 April to 5 August 2018 in the Prado Museum in Madrid. The museum brings together 75 artworks of Pieter Paul Rubens (1577-1640). The exhibition will also be shown at the Boijmans van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam. Peter Paul Rubens is an Antwerp painter.

Project: Costs allowance Asia tour Beneficiary: vzw B'Rock Budget: 15.000 euro Duration: 2018 B'Rock Orchestra was set up in Ghent in 2005 on the basis of an urge for renewal and rejuvenation in the world of Early Music. Our international musicians distinguish themselves by their open mind and flexibility of repertoire and playing style. In the choices it makes for its concert programmes, B'Rock combines established works by baroque composers with the lesser-known repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. Classical music is becoming popular in Asia.

Project: Operating year 2018 Begunstigde: Arts Flanders Japan Budget: 450.000 euro Duration: 2018 Arts Flanders Japan energizes and nourishes the cultural relations between Flanders and Japan. While thefocus is on Tokyo, activities South Korea and Taiwan are also possible. With a strong network in and the great knowledge of both the Flemish and Japanese cultural field, Arts Flanders Japan is the natural intermediary. In globo it takes the role of broker, networker, bridge builder and driver of Flemish - Japanese cultural interaction and collaboration.  More info
