  2. National Climate Change Programme

    Duration: 2011 Budget: 275.000 With this grant the Government of Flanders seeks to contribute to the Fast Start Financing (FSF) budget which is to enable countries to adapt to the impact of climate change. Duration and budget An amount of 275,000 euros was earmarked for this programme on the 2011 budget. Problem definition About 98% of the victims of climate disasters live in developing countries. These countries are more sensitive to climate change.

  3. Development of an international network around agroforestry in southern Africa (ICRAF)

    Duration: 2013-2014 Budget: 1.500.000 The consequences of climate change have a great impact on agricultural techniques in southern Africa. Belgium committed to contributing to Fast Start Financing for climate actions between 2010 and 2012. The different federated states make contributions to this as well. In the past, Flanders supported a trial project (CATSBanks) which integrated forestry as an agricultural practice. The findings of this project were rated positively.

  4. Preventing mother to child HIV transmission

    Duration: 2012-2014 Budget: 260.000 Within the framework of the strategy paper between Flanders and Mozambique this project is situated in the sector of health care and reproductive health. Preventing mother to child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV is one of the priorities of the Mozambique Ministry of Health. Duration and budget An amount of 260,000 euros has been appropriated for this project which ends in 2014. Problem definition Just like other countries in southern Africa, Mozambique has to contend with the consequences of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

  5. Capacity building of the National Health Institute

    Duration: 2012-2014 Budget: 689.755 Through this aid, the Government of Flanders wants to take the development of health care further on the basis of evidence-based medicine (EBM).

  6. Grant to the Royal Danish Embassy in Maputo for developing and improving nutritional status in Mozambique

    Duration: 2014-2015 Budget: 1.000.000€ Chronic malnutrition is still a major concern in Mozambique. It affects 40% of the children aged under 5.

  7. Financial contributions to the African Climate Change Fund

    Duration: 2017-2018 Budget: 2.000.000 euro According to a study by Climate Policy Initiative in 2013-2014, only 3% of the global climate financing goes to Sub-Sahara Africa. This contrasts with the fact that Sub-Saharan Africa is the region with the lowest contribution to climate change and at the same time has the highest vulnerability to climate change impact. It is known that these countries find it more difficult to raise climate finance.
