Signing MoU with Taiwan
Secretary General Koen Verlaeckt and Chih-Chung Wu, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 17 October. The MoU confirms the intention of Flanders and Taiwan to establish a partnership and encourage cooperation in the fields of environmental policy, innovation, clean technologies, business and investment.
This MoU is the result of a six-day working visit to Taipei in 2016 at the invitation of the Taiwanese government. Among the scheduled activities were visits to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Technology, introductions to the Agency for Energy and the Environment Administration and presentations of the Green Trade Project Office and the Tourism Bureau.
However, this MoU isn’t the first of its kind. An agreement on education was already signed in 2014. Furthermore, a trade mission will be held in 2018 under the lead of FIT.
