      Syria

Since March 2011, there has been a bloody civil war raging in Syria. Many Syrians are fleeing the country to stay in neighbouring countries or in Europe. The terrorist organisation Islamic State has its regional basis in Syria, from where its actions wreak instability around the world. Under these circumstances, there can be no cooperation between Flanders and Syria, but there is humanitarian aid for the civilian casualties in and around the country.
