The Foreign Policy Committee visits UK and US
Members of the Foreign Policy Committee, accompanied by Flemish Parliament President Jan Peumans, visited the General Representations in London and New York from 15 to 21 May.
In London, the program included contacts with successful Flemish expats and companies, a visit to the European Medicines Agency and to the London Assembly. The two-day visit was concluded with a dinner with British top contacts for mutual cooperation for the commemoration of the First World War.
In New York, the commemoration of World War I was not forgotten as the members of Parliament laid a wreath at the "In Flanders Fields Memorial". The committee members had meetings with UNICEF and UNDESA representatives and visited the United Nations headquarters. They went to Washington where they visited Congress, the IMF and the World Bank.
Through these visits, the Foreign Policy Committee can meet the representatives and get a better picture of the work of the General Representatives, Flanders Investment & Trade and Visit Flanders abroad.
